Wow. Somebody help me. Some of you may know some of my odder obsessions — my appreciation of computerized Japanese anime pop, my digital archiving of animated .GIFs, my endeavors at amateur numismatics — but of late I’ve realized that I had a large collection of photos of overweight animals. It all started after seeing the much-distributed photo of this dog on the Internet. It occurred to me that this spectacle wouldn’t have happened in nature. These animals wouldn’t be overeating like this. It’s a uniquely modern phenomenon, these overweight animals, yes … well, OK, I was going to try to justify why I’m posting a hall of freaks-style gallery of photos of overweight animals, but you know what? I have no reason. These are just weird pictures and it’ll probably get hits and entertain you, dear readers. Enjoy!

also, is the dog in the last picture the same as the dog in the fourth picture?

yeah, i’m sure you new yorkers like to have a laugh at all us fat slobs in middle america. even our dogs! you make me sick …
